Perfect for families, animal lovers, and conservation enthusiasts, this tour guarantees a memorable and fulfilling day in Nairobi. .
Itinerary:
Morning: Giraffe Centre Visit
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence in Nairobi between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. You’ll start your day with a scenic drive to the Giraffe Centre, located in the peaceful suburb of Karen, about 20 kilometers from the city center. At the centre, you will learn about the endangered Rothschild giraffe and the successful conservation efforts that have helped protect this species. You’ll have the chance to climb a raised observation deck to feed the giraffes at eye level, take photos, and even receive a friendly “giraffe kiss” if you’re brave enough! Spend about one hour at the centre, exploring the nature trail nearby and visiting the gift shop for souvenirs supporting the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW).
Midday: David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
Afterwards, proceed to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, located within Nairobi National Park. The public viewing time runs from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, allowing you to see baby elephants being fed by their keepers and playing joyfully in the mud. Here, you will learn how orphaned elephants are rescued, rehabilitated, and prepared for life back in the wild. Each elephant has a unique rescue story, and the experience is both educational and deeply touching — a highlight for anyone passionate about wildlife conservation.
Afternoon: Optional Cultural Visits & Lunch
After your visit, you will enjoy lunch at one of Nairobi’s popular restaurants such as Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, Tamambo, or The Hub Karen, depending on your preference (at your own cost). In the afternoon, you may choose to visit additional sites such as: Kazuri Beads Factory: A women’s cooperative where local artisans create beautiful handmade ceramic jewelry. Karen Blixen Museum: The former home of the famous author of Out of Africa, offering a glimpse into Kenya’s colonial history. Your guide will then drop you off at your hotel or residence in the late afternoon around 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, marking the end of your full-day Nairobi excursion..
