3 Days Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari, Witness the Greatest Wildlife Spectacle on Earth
Tour Description:
Experience the thrill of the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration on this unforgettable 3-day Masai Mara safari. Every year between July and October, over 1.5 million wildebeests, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, make their way from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve in search of greener pastures. This natural phenomenon is one of the most awe-inspiring wildlife events on the planet and attracts nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers from all over the world.
This safari offers a front-row seat to the river crossings — the most dramatic part of the migration — as massive herds attempt to cross the crocodile-infested Mara River. The safari also provides opportunities to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino), cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, and more. You'll stay in a comfortable tented camp close to the action, enjoy expertly guided game drives, and be immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the African savannah.
Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a photographer, or simply seeking an epic African adventure, this 3-days safari will leave you with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for Kenya’s natural wonders.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Scenic Drive and Afternoon Game Drive
Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or airport at 7:00 AM by our professional safari driver-guide. We'll head southwest toward Masai Mara, passing through the Great Rift Valley, with a short stop at the viewpoint for breathtaking panoramic photos. Continue through the highlands and rural landscapes until we arrive at the Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch at your tented safari camp.
After check-in and a brief rest, we’ll embark on an afternoon game drive in the reserve. This drive gives us the first taste of the Mara’s rich wildlife, with possible sightings of elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and the big cats. We return to the camp at sunset for dinner and overnight, falling asleep to the sounds of the wild.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Viewing – River Crossing and Wildebeest Migration Highlights
After an early breakfast, we set out for a full-day game drive in the vast plains of Masai Mara with a packed lunch. Today is all about exploring the migration corridors and river crossing points along the Mara River. With patience and a bit of luck, you'll witness herds of wildebeests and zebras plunging into the river, battling currents and crocodiles in a life-or-death dash to the other side.
The full-day game drive also increases your chances of spotting the Big Five and other predators such as cheetahs and hyenas. The open savannah offers incredible photography opportunities, especially with the backdrop of massive herds.
We'll enjoy a picnic lunch under a shady acacia tree before continuing the drive in search of more wildlife. Return to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner, relaxation, and a storytelling session around the bonfire.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Return to Nairobi
After breakfast at the camp, we check out and begin our journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening around 4:00–5:00 PM. You’ll be dropped off at your preferred location, marking the end of an exhilarating safari experience.
