Itinerary:
Day 1: Mombasa – Malindi Marine National Park
Depart from Mombasa in the morning and drive north along the coast to Malindi Upon arrival, check in to your beachside lodge and prepare for a half-day marine exploration. At Malindi Marine National Park, enjoy a guided snorkeling or glass-bottom boat tour over coral reefs teeming with parrotfish, groupers, sea turtles, and occasionally dolphins. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the white-sand beach or exploring nearby attractions like the Vasco da Gama Pillar or Arabuko Sokoke Forest (optional). Dinner and overnight stay at a beachfront lodge.
Day 2: Full Day Tour to Kiunga Marine National Reserve
Enjoy an early breakfast and head north to Kiunga Marine National Reserve, located near the Kenya–Somalia border. This off-the-beaten-path gem is known for its untouched coral reefs, over 50 islands, and a stunning diversity of marine species. Take a boat ride through the mangrove channels, snorkel around coral gardens, and enjoy birdwatching (look out for roseate terns and crab plovers). Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on the beach or at a nearby eco-lodge. Return to Malindi in the evening for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Malindi – Mombasa Marine National Park – Departure
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Mombasa. Upon arrival, head straight to Mombasa Marine National Park for a morning snorkeling tour. The park offers an exciting opportunity to see reef sharks, sea urchins, starfish, and anemones. Relax at the beach or take an optional jet ski or dhow ride. Enjoy lunch at a coastal restaurant before a late afternoon drop-off at your hotel or Moi International Airport.
