2 Day Private Safari Adventure to Kora National Park

This 2-day private safari adventure to Kora National Park takes you to one of Kenya’s most remote and untouched wilderness areas. Located along the banks of the Tana River, Kora National Park is famous for its rugged landscapes, rocky outcrops, riverine forests, and diverse wildlife. This park was once home to the legendary conservationist George Adamson, also known as "Baba ya Simba" (Father of Lions). The safari offers an exclusive opportunity to explore the unspoiled wilderness, spot unique wildlife, and enjoy an immersive safari experience away from the crowds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Kora National Park (Scenic Drive & Afternoon Game Drive)

Depart from Nairobi in the morning and embark on a scenic road trip toward Kora National Park. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Kenyan countryside, small villages, and the vast open landscapes as you head east towards Meru County. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or tented camp, enjoy a delicious lunch, and relax before your first afternoon game drive.

During the afternoon game drive, explore Kora’s diverse ecosystem, with highlights including:

Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas lurking in the wilderness

Elephants, buffalos, and giraffes grazing in the woodlands

Crocodiles and hippos along the Tana River

Rare antelope species such as lesser kudu and gerenuk

Drive back to your lodge for dinner under the stars, followed by an optional night game drive for a chance to spot nocturnal animals.

Day 2: Morning Safari & Return to Nairobi

Wake up early for a morning game drive, the best time to spot predators on the hunt and herbivores active in the cool morning air. Drive through Kora’s vast open plains, rocky hills, and riverine forests while capturing stunning photos of the sunrise over the wilderness.

Other highlights include:

A visit to George Adamson’s former campsite, Kampi ya Simba, where you’ll learn about his conservation efforts and love for lions

Birdwatching along the Tana River, home to kingfishers, fish eagles, and herons

Hiking on the park’s rocky outcrops for panoramic views of the landscape

After a fulfilling morning in the wild, enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then check out and begin your return journey to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
