On this wonderful day, we shall spend it at Mt. Longonot, a fascinating inactive volcano that overlooks the beautiful landscape of Lake Naivasha and has lava canyons on its steep slopes. It is home to various wildlife species i.e. buffalo, zebra, giraffe, Thomson’s gazelle and the hartebeest.

After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, you shall be met by our tour guide for a short briefing about the safari. Afterwards we shall depart for Mt. Longonot for hiking.

We shall drive along the floor of the Great Rift Valley. There are a number of viewpoints on the highway to this mountain which have become popular stopovers for the motorists drawn by the splendor of this outstanding view. It is 60km from Nairobi. The mountain has lava canyons on its steep slopes. It is a fascinating inactive volcano that overlooks the beautiful landscape of Lake Naivasha. The mountain rises 750m above the Great Rift Valley and 2776m above the sea level. The path up the mountain is pretty steep and can get slippery at some point. The hiking takes 4-5 hours from the gate, to go around the rim and back. We shall have our picnic lunch as we take scenic photography and have spectacular views.

The entire mountain is a National Park within the jurisdiction of Kenya Wildlife Services the thick forest is home to various wildlife species i.e. buffalo, zebra, giraffe, Thomson’s gazelle and the hartebeest. 

Before the sun sets, we shall return to our hotel in Nairobi for dinner and the overnight stay.
