Aberdare National Park is a high altitude national park located in central Kenya, created to protect the slopes and moorland of the Aberdare Mountains. The topography ranges from high moorland, hills and peaks to indigenous forest, ravines, streams and waterfalls. The rich, red volcanic soil provides excellent growing conditions for the indigenous forest, and lies in stark contrast to both the forest and the mountain’s rugged and beautiful peaks.

Day 1: Nairobi - Wanderi Road Head Campsite

After early breakfast in your hotel, the mountain guide will pick you up and drive you to Aberdare Mweiga Gate in Nyeri, where you will pick an armed ranger. Nyeri is an agricultural rich province in central part of Kenya. On the way, you can see tea bush and coffee firms.

After picking up a ranger, you will drive further to Wanderi Gate where your trekking starts with an armed ranger and porters. After checking in at Wanderi Gate, you will start trekking for like one or two hours to Wanderi’s campsite where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Wanderi Road Head Campsite - Junction Campsite

After breakfast, your potters will help you to pitch off your tent and leave with a picnic lunch to Junction campsite where you will spend the second night. The trekking this day takes around three and a half hours to five hours depending on your pace. On the way, you may see animals like elephants, giant forest hog, bush pigs, buffaloes, leopard, and a large variety of antelopes.

Day 3: Junction Campsite - summit - Honi River Campsite

Leave the camp at 6:30 a.m. with a guide and ranger to Ole Satima summit 4001 meters and after enjoying the view of surrounding attractive areas like Mount Kenya, Nyana hills, Nyeri Muhoya hill, and other attractions, descend down to the camp for full breakfast before you leave to Honi River Campsite where you will spend your third night. From the Junction Campsite to Honi River Campsite, it takes six to seven hours. Hence, this is a long day of trekking.

Day 4: Honi River Campsite - Reedbuck Campsite

After breakfast in your camp, leave to Reedbuck Campsite through heavily dense bamboo forested slopes and after some few hours, the terrain opens into moorland in the upper part. Various species of wildlife inhabit these mountain ranges, hiding in this heavily forested slope and in the upper moorlands. Some of the animals are likely to be seen in this upper part are wild dogs, bush backs, herd of buffaloes, mountain reed back, and klipspringer.

Day 5: Reedbuck Campsite - Ol Pejeta Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Mount Kenya, or Lake Nakuru

After breakfast and pitching off your tents, descend down through Kiandongoro Gate to Road Head barrier where you will meet your transfer vehicle to your next destination
